Who is a young carer?

Being a young carer isn’t always obvious—but it matters

A young carer is a child, teenager, or young adult who helps care for a family member at home. That could mean looking after someone with a physical disability, mental health condition, long-term illness, or issues with substance use. Every situation is different, but one thing is the same: young carers often take on big responsibilities at a young age—and they deserve support.

From arts and crafts to day trips, group chats to confidence workshops, our groups are about having fun, feeling safe, and being yourself. These sessions give young carers the chance to meet others who understand, try something new & Have time away from home responsibilities.

WHO WE HELP

Young Carers 8-18

Young carers aged 8 to 18 may be helping with things like cooking, cleaning, emotional support, or just being a constant source of care at home. We’re here to help them find time for themselves—to feel confident, make friends, and just be young.

Young Adult 18-28

Being a young adult carer comes with its own set of pressures—balancing caring with education, work, relationships, and independence. We offer tailored support to help young adults feel empowered, connected, and confident in their future.
