Hi I’m Ines, I’m 13 and I live in Bishops Cleeve.
What is your caring role in your family?
I care for my younger brother who has autism and other additional needs.
What impact does caring have on your life?
It takes a lot of time out of my day. It is a full-time job so stops me from seeing my friends outside of school and also makes me feel generally very tired.
Favourite part about GYC?
My favourite part about Young Carers is being able to meet people in a similar situation to me. It has made me feel less lonely and has also helped me understand my caring role better. I now know who I can go to for help if i need it.
What hobbies do you like to do in your free time?
I really like listening to music, drawing, acting and singing.
What is your favourite part about where you live?
I love being able to go to the park with my friends and also the shops which are close by.
Favourite thing to do where you live (or in Gloucestershire)?
I love going for walks in the countryside and all of the cool places i get to meet my friends.
How can things be made better for young carer?/How can people support you?
I wish adults we see, like in school, would do more regular checkups, maybe monthly or weekly, on young carers mental health and just make sure we don’t feel alone.
