Young Adult Carers have an artful day!

Eleven Young Adult Carers spent the day expressing their creative and artistic skills at our art day on Saturday 3rd February, which was made possible due to the kind donation from Nailsworth Rotary.

Our volunteer Galina Gardiner, who is a very talented artist, lead the session, inspiring and teaching the young people to create some beautiful pieces of work to take away. Using a variety of mixed media the morning session was focused on the different effects blended from watercolours. After lunch, Galina introduced a new way of creating brilliantly intense art using Brusho powder allowing the YACs to create visually stunning, expressive artwork by spritzing water over the top of the powder.

The relaxed and calm feeling throughout the day provided the young artists with the quiet space many needed to escape from their busy lives as carers. For those that find it hard to discuss their feelings creating the artwork is a great way to express those emotions. For some, this was the first activity they had done with the YAC service; what an enjoyable introduction to meeting other young adult carers!

Some positive feedback was given which included:

“I enjoyed learning different techniques, especially the Brusho dye effect”.
“It's relaxing and chilled, it makes me feel calm”.
