Cirencester Round Table will be mounting their bikes to raise funds for Gloucestershire Young Carers this September.
Five of the members have committed to riding from Cirencester to Lands End in an attempt to raise much needed funds for the charity’s local support group for young carers.
The group have supported Gloucestershire Young Carers in the past and were keen to do something after presentations where they learnt about the challenges young carers face and of the work being done in Cirencester to support such young people.
Chair Adam Baggs says: “A team of five of us will be riding. It will be a tough challenge for some of us and we’ll be grateful to the support we’ll receive from other members of our club.”
Member Mark Halliwell said: “I drove the route with my family the other day and my children pointed out there is a lot of uphill cycling. But I’ll focus on the charity we’re cycling for.”
Ele Semadeni, Operations Lead for Gloucestershire Young Carers, says: “We really appreciate the hard work that the team is putting in – going out on practice rides, gathering together support for en route and planning the route itself. They have done so well to achieve in their training and in their fundraising.
“We can assure challenge eventers such as this team that every penny they raise goes directly into services to support young carers”
The challenge will take place from September 22 to 24th and the group can be supported at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/RTRiders
