Gloucestershire Young Carers, a charity supporting children and young people coping with parental and family ill health and disability, has been nominated for a prestigious national award.
The organisation, based in Twigworth, has been shortlisted as a finalist in The Young Carers Award of the Children & Young People Now Awards 2017.
Now in their 12th year, the awards have become gold standard for everyone working with children, young people and families as well as offering an opportunity for organisations to raise their profile and throw a spotlight on the work they are doing to improve the lives of others.
Ele Semadeni, Operations Lead for Gloucestershire Young Carers, an organisation which has been supporting young carers in the county for the past 24 years, says: “We are delighted with this vote of confidence in our work and look forward to learning about the other finalists and the projects that have been carried out across the country. We are proud of the often innovative work we are involved in as we strive to identify and support young carers, wonderful young people who can achieve and succeed with support.”
The awards recognise initiatives from the public, private and voluntary sector that work with children and young people from birth to adolescence as well as their families.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner to be held on November 22nd in London.
